Lóndrangar
The Lóndrangar is a pair of rock pillars in found by the beach on the south west part of the snæfellsnes peninsula. They are volcanic plugs of basalt, that have been hewn out from softer surrounding rock by erosion. The larger one the “troll” is about 75 meters height and the other one is approximately 61 meters. The pillars set a very interesting appearance to the the beach. When closely viewed one can fantasize about many things such as viking ship, a castle or even a church. There are many legends about the pillars. Some people state that one of the pillars is a church for pixies and others state that the other one is their library.
