It’s great if you have brought your own lunch pack. But if not, we will make a stop along the way where you can buy it, since there’s no real shopping to be done once we’ve arrived to our destination. Our route on the 4×4 takes us to Waterfall Hjálparfoss, where once upon a time horses and men were able to rest after a long journey. We’ll take you to the paradisaical valley of Gjáin. Water cascades in all directions. Then we have an impressive waterfall called Sigöldufoss. We’ll then visit the Crater Lake Bláhylur, which has been nick-named “Blue Pool” Crater. It’s also known as Hnausapollur, but that’s certainly more difficult to pronounce in Icelandic.

Once in Landmannalaugar we start to see the famous rhyolite mountains and their strong colors, reminding us of a painter’s palette. Since this tour is in summer, we recommend you to do the easy hike (see the pictures), which should take about 1.5 – 2 hours, depending on how many photos you take. And if you have time and you want, there’s the geothermal pool too. Don’t forget your towel and swim suit!
