Golden Circle Private Tour Iceland

star rating  A traveling group of 11 friends used Discover Iceland and their contractors for a private luxury tour with private excursions to see the Northern Lights with Gudmundur Bjarnason (Goodman). ... read more Goodman kept moving us to different locations until we saw the incredible display of lights. It was a terrific beginning to our trip along with an earlier stop at the Blue Lagoon. Our drivers for day 2 and 3 were Stefan and Sammi who picked us up In super Jeeps and took us around the Golden Circle up to Langjokull Where we had an incredible snowmobiling experience across the glacier and into a man made cave. Awesome. Day 3 we spent the day 4 wheeling through Thorsmok over snow covered meadows and through water to the huts for lunch and hike to Gigjokull. Stefan and Sammi were expert drivers and gave us a real thrill. The remainder of our trip was guided by Stefan who told us stories of Iceland, the Vikings, fishing, languages, food, volcanoes, geology, very informative. Day 4 we headed east to the black sand beach and had an incredible private ATV tour along the snow covered beach to the plane wreak and back to the forests. Stops to see the Skaftafell Lagoon glaciers and black sand beach were stops that were awesome. All along these days the weather was perfect. Day 5 we had a great hike back into an ice cave at the base of the Vatnajokull and continued into diamond beach While one of us got lost getting fish and chips from a vendor. Day 6 went we explored Husafell and Viogelmer Lava cave. Stefan had some challenging driving conditions leaving Vik getting us out to the Snæfellsbær peninsula with high winds and snow but we felt very comfortable with his expert driving ability. Snæfellsbær was beautiful but conditions turned very windy and cold so most of our hiking was short trips in and out of our bus to sites. Our final day was very snowy so we spent our last day at the Viking museum before heading to the airport. For the most part the weather was Fantastic. The guides for all of our excursions, and Stefan and Sammi were top notch. It was the vacation we dreamed of. .
